S.O.R. Basics
This workshop is the "meat and potatoes" of the WordWise professional learning offerings, and should be considered a pre-requisite for all other sessions. This is everything we wish we learned in university.
While it can be packed into one very full day, this session is best spread over two full days in order to be more active, more interactive, and more hands-on.

Literacy Assessment
&
Data-Driven
Instructional Planning
Teacher feedback calls this session "The perfect follow up to the basics."
Do you know your students need something else, but aren't sure what? Have you been made to assess meaningless lettered levels and now want to learn how to assess in an evidence-based way?

Guided by science, this workshop teaches you what to assess, how to assess it, how to analyze the data you get, and how to use that data to plan your instruction & intervention.

Fluency First!
This workshop will answer the following questions, and more!

What is fluency?
How do I know a student is "fluent enough?"
How is fluency tied to comprehension?
How do I assess comprehension?
How do I help a student who is stuck at sound-by-sound blending?
How do I teach fluency in my whole class tier-1 literacy time?
My student can read grade level text but sounds robotic. How can I help?

"The way you integrated best practices, incredible resources, and wisdom from so many different places was so helpful! The free resources are so appreciated!"

"Why am I just learning this now?"
"Why am I just learning this now? This PD should be mandatory for all teachers AND administrators. I know you already teach at the U, but you should also be hired to teach this to students before they can graduate and get a teaching certificate. It's so logical and would save so many students from illiteracy.
Does nobody at the University know this is what we need?"

Educator Feedback
What do teachers who have attended Nicole's workshops have to say?
"The best PD of my 20 year career!"
"How did I not know this stuff? This day was the best PD of my 20 year career! I am so exhilarated leaving here today and excited to start implementing my new knowledge - slowly and with patience for myself as you said! Our local is so lucky to have you as a resource for workshops and I can't wait for the next ones. I'll be at all of them! (Also, I would be very interested in a summer intensive with you if you're interested in doing a full week - it would be amazing!)"

"So helpful!"
"Amazing Resources!"
"Everything about today was so valuable. I especially appreciated the spelling pattern discussions and learning about the "rules" that I didn't fully understand. Thank you for the amazing Drive full of resources! I love the scope and sequence for phonics patterns to help make sure we don't miss any critical concepts."
